Mansfield said an Eras Tour proposal could be "really romantic" but urged couples to ensure their motives were deep. Make sure your partner would enjoy a public proposalAnother important factor to consider is whether your partner would enjoy a public proposal. Jaime Bronstein, a relationship therapist, said an Eras Tour proposal is a great idea if Swift's music has played a "significant role in your relationship." However, she added that it's important to check if a public proposal is something your partner would feel comfortable with. "If your significant other is more private or would prefer a more intimate setting, a public proposal at a concert might cause discomfort or anxiety," she said.

Kari Lake is the all-but-certain GOP nominee in Arizona, a key battleground state this cycle. According to the Washington Post, the former president is annoyed by Lake's frequent jaunts to Mar-a-Lago, Trump's resort and political home base in Palm Beach, Florida. While not the most important Senate race this cycle — Republicans have generally focused more on unseating incumbent Democratic senators in Ohio and Montana — Lake's race still matters. That's certainly true of her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," which arrived last Friday to mixed reviews. New Taylor Swift music is bound to spark widespread debate, but the conversation swelled when she surprise-released "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology," a deluxe edition with 15 extra songs. Indeed, most of these deluxe tracks succeed as self-contained stories, recalling the mythic peaks of "Folklore" and "Evermore." Then again, more songs equals more streams, and "The Tortured Poets Department" is on target to become one of the most-played albums of the streaming era. But beyond what she's been told by others, by naming the song "Clara Bow," Swift appears to be signaling an affinity with the original "It" girl whose career reached its apex almost a century ago. Ultimately, for Sisneros and Bell, Swift's immortalization of their great-grandmother in "Clara Bow" is a gift they can hand down to future generations. After a degree in fine art, Lambert imagined he would become an art teacher, but a chance meeting with an art dealer who hired him as an assistant set him on a different path. Then, after a stint at another dealership, he opened his own gallery in September — Lambert Fine Art — in the British town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Dealing in art is a trade Lambert described as "unusual," because art is often a purchase driven by emotion rather than need. 'The business needs new blood'The world of art dealing can be intimidating to new entrants, according to Olya Johnson, an interior architect and co-founder of art and interiors business Relic, which she set up in 2023. Risks of dealing artThe occupation can also be risky, because dealers often own multiple pieces of art without knowing when they will be sold, according to the dealers CNBC spoke to.

Nijole Sadunaite, a fearless but forgiving Roman Catholic nun and anti-Soviet Lithuanian nationalist who was inspired by Pope John Paul II and publicly hailed by President Ronald Reagan, died on March 31 in Vilnius. Her death was confirmed by Sister Gerarda Elena Suliauskaite, laureate of the Freedom Prize of the Republic of Lithuania, which was also given to Sister Sadunaite in 2018 for her defense of democracy and human rights. In 1975, Sister Sadunaite (pronounced sah-DOO-nay-teh) was arrested by K.G.B. agents who had stormed an apartment where she was writing an underground newspaper, The Chronicle of the Catholic Church in Lithuania, which documented abuses against Christians in the Baltic state. “I had typed six pages when I was caught, so I effectively got one year for every page,” she told The Atlantic in 1994.

1 on this list because it's the culmination of everything Grande does best. Only an artist with tremendous talent, clout, and emotional strength could have produced and released an album like this. That she managed to siphon this music from the depths of personal tragedy makes the effect even more sublime. If I were forced to choose, "NASA" and "Make Up" are the weakest of the bunch, but that certainly doesn't mean they're bad. In fact, it's a testament to the strength of this album that its "worst" songs are just slightly less dazzling than the rest.

3 SHADES OF BLUE: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, and the Lost Empire of Cool, by James KaplanMiles Davis was one of the biggest stars in jazz as well as one of the most innovative and influential musicians. John Coltrane was both a saxophone virtuoso and a fearless explorer whose lifelong musical and spiritual quest attracted a passionate following — and later, as that quest went beyond the boundaries of jazz as many people understood the word, heated criticism. Bill Evans redefined the concept of the piano trio and rewrote the rules of jazz harmony. Well, we may not need it, but we have it. And if “3 Shades of Blue: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, and the Lost Empire of Cool” is neither an essential addition to the jazz literature nor quite the sweeping statement its subtitle promises, it’s certainly a compelling read.

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge in Texas has ordered a 55-year-old U.S. agency that caters to minority-owned businesses to serve people regardless of race, siding with white business owners who claimed the program discriminated against them. The agency, which helps minority-owned businesses obtain financing and government contracts, now operates in 33 states and Puerto Rico. Justice Department lawyers representing Minority Business Development Agency declined to comment on the ruling, which can be appealed to the conservative-leaning 5th U.S. John F. Robinson, president of the National Minority Business Council, said the ruling is “a blow against minority owned businesses," and does nothing to help majority-owned businesses because they already enjoy access to federal resources through the Small Business Administration. "It has the potential of damaging the whole minority business sector because there will be less service available to minority-owned businesses,” Robinson said.

Our elementary school was set deep in the rural Ontario countryside, nestled in the forest beside the local dump. At recess, a year later, I didn’t make the choice to get into trouble that day, either. She had been invited to smoke cigarettes in the trees on the far side of the running track. The invitation came from Kyle, a charming ringleader who looked like Justin Timberlake and dressed like Kurt Cobain. I would have certainly wussed out if she had told me we were going to smoke (!)
